Christy Schwathe is a painter/printmaker currently living and working in Costilla, New Mexico, born and raised in Colorado. She gained her Bachelors Degree in Fine Art/Printmaking at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, though her painting and drawing skills were largley self-taught; the result of years of time devoted since she was very young. Srongly attracted to the graphic arts, Christy's style is influenced by printmaking, graffiti/street art, and art nouveau, yet, remains unique to itself. Christy works on her pieces instinctively, adding and changing whatever feels right at the time, with the purpose of creating an image to be interpreted on a personal level by each viewer.
When not working on her art, Christy can usually be found working on her other current project, designing and sewing bags, and basically being a one-woman army for her company hu.made. She wishes she had more time to dedicate to her art as well as other small pleasures, such as: sewing and designing, fabricating jewelry, making and enjoying music, growing things, road tripping, and primarily, just living her life on her own terms and making art in many forms.
